Sparks suffers pre-season setback
Harvey Sparks suffered a suspected fractured ankle in last night’s opening pre-season victory over Worthing United.
The winger who was in fine form throughout last pre-season when he scored 8 goals, including a hat-trick against last night’s opponents lasted only 50 minutes this time round, leaving the field following an innocuous incident.
Recalling what happened, Sparks said: “I just caught it with someone!”. “It wasn’t even a challenge really and I didn’t think I landed on it very badly – he got the ball, ran off and I just caught it, it was strange”.
After leaving the ground Sparks visited hospital for an x-ray, the results of which appeared to show a couple of cracks in his ankle however doctors were unable to confirm it was broken. Currently wearing a black protective boot and on crutches he’s due to visit the fracture clinic next Thursday for further diagnosis.
