Striker Folkes released
Manager Gary Elphick has today confirmed that striker Omar Folkes has been released by the club.
Folkes who only signed at the end of June had been struggling with a groin injury but returned to the squad as a second half substitute in Monday’s 4-1 defeat at Burgess Hill.
Elphick was quick to outline that the decision was not an easy one: “It is with heavy-heart I’ve had to make this decision, it was never my intention to be releasing players so early in the season but due to our current form and the poor start we’ve made it’s obvious changes are needed”. “We desperately need to strengthen certain areas and one area where we’re not short is strikers so we’ve had to cut out cloth accordingly unfortunately for Omar”.

“He’s been a complete gentlemen throughout, it’s just unfortunate he’s had a bit of a stop-start time here regarding injuries and fitness and we can’t afford to be carrying any passengers at the moment”. “I can only thank him for him commitment during his time here and wish him all the best for the future”.
He leaves the club having made just three competitive appearances, his only goal coming in the 1-1 draw with Lewes during pre-season.
The club would like to thank Omar for his efforts during his short time with us and wish him nothing but success with his next club.
