Buckland: “I can’t wait to see Woodside rocking again”

Following the news the pitch at Woodside Road has passed it’s latest FIFA test, Managing Director Calvin Buckland hopes to see the crowds return starting with Saturday’s match with Metropolitan Police.

There’s been a series of highs and low since the well documented takeover of the club in 2015 however Buckland reflects on the situation with the pitch as particularly stressful: “It’s been the first major setback we’ve had in the two-and-a-half years and has taken up pretty much consumed all our thoughts in the last 12 months, which has meant our focus has been taken off other things”. “It’s definitely had a knock-on affect but I’m just so glad to be back and I can’t wait to see Woodside rocking again”.

Buckland is hoping this bit of good news will help spark a change in fortunes on the pitch: “We just need everyone to get behind us now and hopefully climb the league slowly”. “Before all this happened everything at the club was on the up, we just want to get back to those days, get the crowds back up, reward them with entertaining football and build some momentum – things can change overnight in football”.

He was also full of praise for local rivals Bognor Regis Town who stepped in to provide a venue for our home fixtures so far this season: “We can’t thank Bognor enough for their help, assistance and advice through all of this. If I had lost any faith in the football community their actions have certainly helped restore that”.

“I’d also like to thank Pete Stone and Barry Hunter for there guidance and for providing a voice of reason through all of this”. “We also owe a debt of gratitude to FIFA and the FA who have both been nothing but helpful in getting us back playing at home”.

“I’ve got to try and remember what we do on a matchday now it’s been that long!”. “I just hope the town comes out to support George, it’s hit him hard but I know what it would mean to him to see a big crowd on Saturday”.

Metropolitan Police are the first visitors to the Bibby Financial Services Stadium this coming Saturday, 3pm kick-off. Entry is just £5 for all, under-16’s go free.
