Match Preview: Worthing vs Folkestone Invicta
Worthing Football Club will hope to extend their recent good run of form on Saturday as they entertain play-off chasing Folkestone Invicta in the Bostik League Premier Division.
The Mackerel Men sit 10th in the form table having picked up 10 points from the last 6 games moving the club up to 21st in the division, whilst the visitors head to the Bibby Financial Services Stadium in similar form and no doubt eager to avenge the 2-1 defeat they suffered back in November.
Invicta currently sit in the play-off positions with games in hand on those above them, but also face pressure from sides just around them and three points on Saturday for Neil Cugley’s men will do wonders for their promotion push.
Manager Adam Hinshelwood will be keen for his side to pick up their first double of the season and knows it won’t be an easy game with both sides wanting the points for different reasons.
‘I’m expecting a very open game similar to when we played at their place back in November, they like to keep their wing backs high up the pitch and we played on the counter which got us the win. They play with a lot of energy and have some lively strikers so we need to be at our best to keep them out.’
‘100% we need to be tighter defensively and give Lucas (Covolan) less to do, whilst at the same time we don’t want to lose our attacking threat, we will look to push our wing backs on and create enough chances to win the game’.
Apart from long term injuries to Ross Edwards and Rhyle Ovenden, Hinshelwood has a fully fit squad to choose from with Ben Pope and Kieron Pamment pushing for recalls to the starting line up.
The match at the Bibby Financial Services Stadium kicks off at 3pm, admission is £10 for adults, £5 for concessions, £3 for 13-16 year olds and £1 for under 12’s.
