Under 18’s slip to late Whitehawk defeat
Worthing Under 18’s suffered their first defeat since early January after visitors Whitehawk scored a late winner to move into second place in the Bostik Youth League South Division.
Hawk took an early lead inside 10 minutes, but the young Mackerel men were level thirteen minutes later when Ruben Schneider was brought down in the box and Hayden Skerry levelled the scores from the penalty spot.
An even hard fought first half saw the sides go into the half time break 1-1. Worthing dominated the second half and took the lead on the hour mark, Jasper Pattenden the goal scorer. Despite their domination, Worthing couldn’t find a third goal to seal the points and the visitors equalised in the 77th minute.
But not content with a point, Whitehawk snatched a winner in stoppage time to move above their hosts into 2nd place a point behind leaders Lewes with two games in hand.
