Worthing Football Club | Board Announcement
I am very pleased to announce the appointment of Barry Hunter to the Board of Worthing Football Club, as a Non-Executive Director.
We are very serious in our ambition to accelerate the progression of this Club, and just as Adam is working hard to secure a 1st Team squad for next season, I will continue to build a high calibre, experienced Leadership Team behind the scenes.
A highly experienced Senior Executive from the Sports Industry, Barry spent 10 years at Adidas as Managing Director for the UK, Belgium and Holland businesses where he oversaw the negotiation and management of major sports management contracts. He is currently CEO of the Sports and Leisure Group.
Barry has a deep understanding of how a football club operates from the grass roots up having led the emergence of Loxwood Football Club from the West Sussex League Div 5 to a Charter Standard Club in the County League Premier Division.
There is also a strong “Hunter” family connection with Worthing FC. Barry was born in the town and was an U18, Reserve and Ryman league first team player for the club, and his father Roy Hunter, also born and bred in Worthing, was a dedicated volunteer at the club working on the committee and grounds team over a 20 year period in the 80s and 90s.
Barry will take the lead on a range of special projects and provide important general counsel and advice to the Board.
Speaking about the appointment, Barry said “I am incredibly proud to be back helping the club that has played such a part in mine and my dad’s life. Thanks to George and Calvin, the club has an exceptional opportunity and I am really looking forward to working with Pete and the new board to make the possible a reality”.
Please look out for Barry at future matches and extend a typically warm, Worthing FC welcome to him.
