Ricky Aguiar

Biography

An Under 18 with both Shoreham and Lewes where he won Sussex and Isthmian Youth Cup honours, as well as helping the young Rooks go all the way to the third round of the FA Youth Cup in 2017-18.

Called up for both Sussex and Sussex Schools U18s, scoring in a Man of the Match performance for Worthing College as he picked up more silverware in the shape of the Men’s First XI County Cup a year later.

This impressive form also helped earn him a place in the English Colleges squad. Impressed in pre-season 2018 with goals against South Park – on his debut – and Selsey, with his first competitive one coming at Harlow Town on 18/08/18.

Ended a fine maiden campaign in adult football as Managers’ and Players’ Player of the Year, retaining the former in 2019-20. Twelve months further on, he was snapped up by Swindon Town, where he recently extended his stay until 2025.

A good start at the Robins led to Aguiar climbing off the bench at Carlisle United on 14/08/21. Then, between October and January ‘22, sampling life in National League South by way of a hugely productive loan at Chippenham Town. Notching seven goals in just thirteen games, figures that saw him score his first in the Football League upon returning to Town – a brace in a five-nil thrashing of Walsall.

Moved to then top flight Torquay United at the beginning of this year for another temporary secondment, following managerial upheaval at his parent club, yet ended it in the League Two play-offs, prior to gracing the hallowed Woodside turf as an inductee into the Hashtag United friendly and hanging around for 2023-24.
