For those forced to fill their time with less exciting pursuits, in a poor substitution for the ups and downs of life as a Worthing fan, you can now count down the days until we go west and pitch up at Adam’s back garden to take on The Hinshelwoods, in a 3:00pm kick-off.
I say that in jest, of course, please don’t turn up at Hinsh’s house with a ball and a pair of boots because the game will actually be taking place at The Bunn Leisure Stadium against Selsey (!)
Our first midweek escapade of The Summer sees The 3G Derby between us and recently appointed Manager, Naz Rouane’s Lancing at the home of The Sussex County FA, in Culver Road. A good one to maybe “let the train take the strain”, unless you don’t mind paying to park.
It’s two for the price of one with the weekend starting early on the 19th amidst a trip to Trumpton, sorry, I mean Littlehampton (Town) on a Friday night and if that’s not enough, we head up country to Three Bridges the very next day, where a potential reunion with their newly-named U-18’s Boss and one of the Play-Off winning heroes, Brannon O’Neill awaits !
Another old boy, Arron Hopkinson – the man who discovered Jalen Jones – brings his Eastbourne United side to Woodside for another Tuesday night tussle, after leading them to SCL Premier Division safety last term.
A Connor Cody inspired Chichester City stormed to The Combination League Title in 2018-19 with the best defensive record in the league and we return to The Countrywide Gas Stadium for the second pre-season running – on the final Saturday of the month – to take on a team looking forward to their Bostik League debut in August. Especially as they gave us a more than thorough workout last time round ! (They also scored 107 goals, the third-highest of any club at Step 5; so they’re not shot-shy either.)
Whyteleafe provide the opposition, to mark the conclusion of preparations for the forthcoming campaign, at their humble Church Road home in the leafy Surrey Suburbs on Saturday 3rd August. Perhaps those of a nervous disposition should pop-in to St Luke’s on the corner on the way home ?
