The Mackerels boarded their first win of the new campaign on Tuesday night beating Sussex rivals Lewes 3-1 thanks to a brace from Alex Parsons and a Darren Budd header just after half-time, which proved too much for a ten-man Rooks side to reply from.
But boss Adam Hinshelwood wasn’t entirely pleased with his side’s overall performance, and felt similar frailties from last season reappeared.
Meanwhile Hornchurch are currently unbeaten after the first two matches of the campaign, drawing 2-2 with Margate and beating Merstham 2-1 on the opening day.
Worthing will be without striker Callum Kealy, who has recently headed back to Australia for family reasons.
The striker scored on both occasions the sides met in the league last season – The Mackerels winning 3-1 at Woodside Road in March after a 1-1 draw at Hornchurch way back in November.
