The fixture comes three days after The Mackerels’ disappointing 2-0 loss away to Folkestone Invicta on the opening day of the new campaign, after two second half goals stunned the reds which included former Worthing winger Ira Jackson getting on the scoresheet to seal the win for the home side.

But despite this, The Reds will not be shy of confidence going into tomorrow night’s test having almost taken the lead against Folkestone with chances from Jesse Starkey and Shola Ayoola, which on another day could have changed the game entirely.

Meanwhile Lewes managed to salvage a draw in their first league game at home to Enfield Town in the 86th minute after the visitors had led from the 38th.

Both sides battled out two incredibly controversial games last season, with Worthing winning 4-3 at The Dripping Pan thanks to a last-gasp goal from Joe Clarke after being 3-2 down, then Lewes edged yet another 4-3 thriller at Woodside Road in January in a game which included two reds cards.
