Confidence in The Mackerels’ camp is currently high, after making amends for the embarrassing 6-0 defeat to Hornchurch two weeks ago by handsomely beating fierce rivals Bognor 3-0 on Monday, which included a brace from striker Ollie Pearce against his old club.
Whilst Margate, currently level on points with Worthing having played a game more, are unbeaten at home, most recently beating Lewes 2-0 last Saturday at Hartsdown Park.
When the two sides met last season, The Gate managed to take all three points back to Kent winning 1-0 at Woodside Road, before Worthing were denied revenge at Hartsdown Park by an 88th minute equaliser which cancelled out David Ajiboye’s opener.
