Following the departure of Ben Pashley earlier today, we have a new loanee joining us by the name of Marley Zane Marshall Maranda, the 17 year old joins on loan from Colchester and us here at Worthing HQ caught up with the newest player to pull on the red shirt.
WFC – You join us on loan from Colchester with us joint top of the league, what can you bring to the team?
MM – “Ive got to do well and prove myself as a player, i’m here to help the squad and regardless of league position keep winning games”
WFC – How did the loan move come about?
MM – “Colchester U18’s/Academy have no games coming up over the Christmas/New Year period so most of the lads have gone out on loan. I’ve got lucky being sent to Worthing as I live here and have heard great things about the club. I am outgoing and see myself as a leader so hopefully I can bring my characteristics to the pitch”
WFC – Worthing have a recent connection with Colchester following the Kwame Poku move. Do you know him and did you speak to him before joining?
MM – “I met Kwame briefly when he joined but he got promoted to the 1st team pretty quickly due to his form so didn’t get to know him, with more experience and senior football more players can follow that path. I hope to be a pro footballer in the championship or premier league one day, that is my goal”
WFC – How would you describe yourself as a footballer?
MM – “I would say i’m aggressive but controlled with it, I love to press which should fit in the team’s system. When I have the ball I run at players and cause them problems”
Marley is a former Brighton player and joined the U’s earlier on this year, he can be deployed anywhere in midfield but mainly central. He goes straight into this weekends squad selection vs Cray Wanderers in the Velocity Trophy, kick off 1:30pm.
