The £150,000 project will see the Crucial Environmental Stadium undergo a number of improvements, including the installation of brand new floodlights, an additional bar, a new toilet block, and improved changing rooms.
This project represents the next step for an ambitious club. These improvements will transform the matchday experience for every fan that comes through the gates, and help secure the club’s future.
The exciting project has already received significant funding, with £90,000 secured from the Football Stadium Improvement Fund after months of hard work behind the scenes. Further funds have been secured through other sponsorships and donations, leaving a funding gap of £43,000.
The full upgrade programme can only go ahead as planned if the club receive 100% of the target funds. Chairman Barry Hunter spoke about the need to raise the funds quickly and on-time:
“It’s our intention to complete the works through the summer and ahead of the new season. This leaves us a quite narrow window to raise funds, focused on May and June. At which point we will review what, if any, funding gap still remains and plan a July push to complete.”
The fundraising target is set at £43,000, to bridge the gap in funding and make sure the project goes ahead. The club has launched its Crowdfunder campaign, titled Future’s Bright, to raise this remaining money.
Chairman Barry Hunter spoke of the importance of this project for the club.
“It achieves important objectives all in one go:
Firstly all visitors to the club will have an upgraded experience, players, supporters, sponsors, staff, volunteers etc. We want to attract and retain everyone associated with the club and this project will go a long way to achieve this.”
“Secondly, it will support our ambition to play in Steps 1 and 2 of the National Non-League system. These are important and necessary ground grading requirements.”
“We are preparing to bring the whole club ‘on and off the park’ to a level that sets the benchmark for new standards and expectations. Alongside our outstanding performances on the pitch this season across all teams, these projects, in addition to the investments already made, will show everyone associated with the club that we intend to progress to a new level.”
Worthing Football Club is asking for the support of its fans, sponsors, and local community to help raise the club to the next level and create a stadium to be proud of. This project will help protect the future of the football club, and help the club continue to grow.
