The fixture comes after Worthing drew only their second league game of the campaign on Tuesday evening, playing out a 2-2 stalemate away to Haringey Borough:
The Reds found themselves a goal behind at the break to a Luca Cocoracchio own goal, before two goals in as many minutes through Marvin Armstrong and Joel Colbran put them 2-1 up early in the second period.
Two minutes later, Georgios Aresti equalised for Haringey to share the spoils with Worthing extending their lead at the top by another point to six, and boss Adam Hinshelwood reflected positively on the Cray and Haringey tests:
“Four points from six adds up to a good week and keeps us going in the right direction.”
Meanwhile, hosts Brightlingsea Regent have had a poor season so far, with only four wins on the board placed 21st.
However, they beat bottom-placed Leatherhead 2-0 last weekend to earn them their first league victory since the end of September.
Recent meetings
The two sides last met in January of the expunged season of 2019-20, with Worthing running out comfortable winners with a 3-0 victory in Essex thanks to a brace from Ollie Pearce and a goal from Alex Parsons.
