A resolute Leatherside side were eventually broken down by The Rebels 25’ minutes into proceedings. Pearce’s cross picked out Meekums with precision, who tucked the ball home with composure.
Just a matter of minutes later, Pearce doubled Worthing’s lead. James Beresford played his part, showing a great burst of pace before picking out The League’s top scorer, who fired home emphatically, at the front post.
The game was done and dusted by halftime, as Pearce headed home his 26th league goal of the season. Getting across the front post, he diverted Jesse Starkey’s corner home, ahead of the helpless Myles Bowman.
The Rebels were able to take their foot off the gas in the second half. However, in the 63rd minute Barker rounded off a neat team move, as his deflected effort nestled into the net.
