Having recently left Whitehawk, El-Abd comes with a wealth of footballing experience and became Adam Hinshelwood’s second signing, following Jake Robinson through the door.
We asked him what his first impressions are of the club: “Having been over to watch Hinsh and Nathan train and coach numerous times over the past couple of years I can see a clear philosophy and precedent has been set”.
“We have a 3G surface which allows us to play good football and I am well aware of all the fantastic work taking place on and off the pitch over the last few years”.
“I want to play at the highest level I can and I feel as fit as I have ever been. I’ve not been injured over the last few years and I want to show I can end my career on a high.”
Adam El-Abd
Since leaving Stevenage in 2020, El-Abd has been combining playing with coaching at Whitehawk, during which time he completed his UEFA A-Licence: “I’ve done my badges, Hinsh is further along the coaching route than me and he’s a very good one”.
“He’s a real winner and competitor who studies hours of the game”. “He was a big influence bringing me here and I’m hungry to be apart of it”.
Adam is excited and ambitious on the season ahead: “I want to play at the highest level I can and I feel as fit as I have ever been”.
“I’ve not been injured over the last few years and I want to show I can end my career on a high, I’ve seen what preparations have been like with the team over the last few years and I understand there is a great team spirit amongst the current set of players”.
“Getting promoted again is the goal, why not”? “And let’s aim to do it in the style and blueprint Worthing are known for, playing expansive possession football”. “It may be ambitious but if you reach for the moon you might get the stars”.
Last season Adam made a total of 37 appearances for Whitehawk and going into the new campaign he has the following to say to the fans: “I’m here for whatever role Hinsh wants me in, I’m very much looking forward to getting started and joining a club on the up, let’s continue the success of the past”.
He will look to make his full home debut in pre-season when the Reds face Three Bridges under the lights at the Crucial Environmental Stadium on Tuesday 5th July, with the National League South season kicking off on Saturday 6th August.
