The Reds go into the friendly having had a busy previous weekend of fixtures, which saw a catalogue of players turning out across three games.
On Friday evening a mix of youth and trialists fell to a 2-1 defeat to Littlehampton at the Sportsfield. Brad Dologhan put Worthing a goal up at the interval, but two late goals gave the Golds victory.
Saturday saw the Mackerels host a three-way tournament of three 60-minute games against Winchester City and Whitehawk.
Ollie Starkey put Worthing 1-0 up at half time against Winchester, but the Hampshire side fought back in the second half to win by three goals to one.
In the match against the Hawks, Jake Robinson struck his second goal of pre-season, helping the Reds to a 2-1 win.
Meanwhile, visitors Swindon Town are also having a busy pre-season schedule, with their trip to the south coast being one of two fixtures for the Robins, also facing Cardiff City at the County Ground tomorrow afternoon.
Swindon’s current squad contains a familiar face for Worthing fans – former player Ricky Aguiar. The 21-year-old joined the Reds in 2018 and made an instant impact, scoring his first goal in a 2-0 win over Harlow Town in August that year and going onto to play more than forty times in his first season of senior football.
The midfielder went on to win both the Manager’s Player of the Season and Players’ Player of the Season awards in 2018/19, before retaining Manager’s Player once again in 2019/20. Aguiar played a total of 95 games for the Mackerel Men, scoring 15 goals in the process before completing a move to the Robins in August of last year.
