The forward joined the Reds in October last year after a short spell with Dulwich Hamlet, making his debut from the start in a defeat away at Braintree Town.

He didn’t have to wait long for his first goal for the club, netting the opening goal in the 1-1 draw with Taunton Town on his home debut. He followed that up with a winning goal against his former club just three days later.

He netted a brace in the thrilling 4-3 win over Hampton & Richmond on Boxing Day, then in February 2023 bagged four goals in the thrashing of Crowborough Athletic in the Sussex Senior Cup.

By the end of the campaign he’d established himself as a regular in Hinshelwood’s side, starting both play-off ties and the Sussex Senior Cup final where he coverted from the spot in the shoot-out win over Bognor Regis Town.

In total Akanki contributed 12 goals in 34 appearances, ending as the club’s third highest scorer behind Ollie Pearce and Callum Kealy.
