It is the Rebels’ first home match on a Saturday since 21st October when they were beaten at the death by league leaders Yeovil Town.

Since the defeat to the Glovers six weeks ago, the Reds have had real mixed fortunes in a spell that has seen them compete in four different competitions.

Last time out, Adam Hinshelwood’s were beaten on penalties in the Sussex Transport Senior Cup by Isthmian South East outfit, Littlehampton Town.

Despite a stunning free-kick from Ricky Aguiar in the first half, the Rebels were 2-1 down at the break. Ollie Pearce eventually found the way through in the second half to level things up in the second half to take it to penalties.

But, Michael Klass was denied from the spot and Littlehampton found the back of the net with all five of their penalties to advance through to the Quarter-Finals.

After Torquay United’s win in midweek, the Rebels have dropped to one place outside the playoff places in eighth ahead of this weekend’s meeting with Chippenham Town.

The Opposition

Chippenham Town have also had mixed fortunes of late, having lost to Hampton & Richmond Borough at home last time out. Before that, the Bluebird held league leaders Yeovil Town to a 1-1 draw at Hardenhuish Park.

The Bluebirds are 14th in the league table after 19 matches, picking up 25 points in that time.

Form

25/11 – Hampton & Richmond Borough (H) – Lost 1-2
21/11 – Yeovil Town (H) – Drew 1-1
18/11 – Basingstoke Town (H) – Drew 1-1 (won 3-2 pens) – FA Trophy
11/11 – Chelmsford City (A) – Drew 2-2
7/11 – Farnborough (H) – Won 2-1
4/11 – Eastbourne Boro (H) – Won 4-2

Previous Meetings

Both encounters last season ended with the sides sharing the points. It was a goalless draw in August 2022 at Woodside before a 1-1 draw in the reverse fixture at Hardenhuish Park.

The only other meetings between the sides were during the 1999/00 FA Cup campaign where the Rebels won the Third Round Qualifying Replay 3-1.

Worn Both Shirts

Mo Dabre, who spent a large portion of last season on loan with the Rebels, has previously played at Chippenham, spending the end of the 2021/22 season with the Bluebirds.

The young midfielder made 18 league appearances for the Rebels last term, scoring five times. He’s now signed a permanent deal with Tonbridge Angels after a spell with Chelmsford City at the start of the season.

Team News

Adam Hinshelwood has revealed promising news on the injury front, with Nicky Wheeler, Jake Robinson and Glen Rea all close to making a return to action.

The boss anticipates that all three will be ready for minutes by next Saturday (9th December), but it remains unlikely that they will feature before then.
