The 21-year-old was a member of Brighton’s academy before departing for Scotland last summer, joining Championship side Queen’s Park. He was voted by supporters as Queen’s Park Player of the Month for August after impressing with his creativity during the first month of the season.

He made 28 appearances across all competitions for the Scottish side, before leaving the club by mutual consent in January.

The Surrey-born midfielder joined the Seagulls as a 10-year-old and broke through to the first team on two occasions, both in the EFL Cup. He made his debut back in 2019 as a substitute in their Third Round defeat to Aston Villa and made his full debut for Albion against Forest Green Rovers in their Second Round clash in 2022.

Before making the switch to Scotland, Spong spent the last four months of the 2022/23 season on loan from Brighton at League Two side Crawley Town, making five appearances for the Red Devils.

The move to Worthing will see Spong link back up with his former Brighton teammate Danny Cashman. The pair featured for Brighton’s U23 side together.

Spong’s signing has been approved and the midfielder is available for the Rebels’ next match away at Dartford on Saturday.
