Worthing first played Braintree Town on 14th November 1998, when we drew 2-2 at home to them in an Isthmian League Division 1 fixture; both of our goals were scored by Marc Rice.

The most recent meeting was at home earlier this season, on 24th February, when we lost 1-0 in this National League South fixture.

Braintree’s largest winning margin is in these meetings is four, which they achieved at home in the league this season and in the return fixture of 1998-99.

Our largest winning margin in these matches is just two, which we have achieved twice. Both of these 2-0 victories have come at Woodside Road; Simon Funnell and Ben Carrington scored the goals on 15th April 2000 in Isthmian Division 1, and Stafford Browne and Andy Alexander were the scorers on 27th August 2005 in the Isthmian Premier Division.

Last season we had our only meeting outside of league fixtures, when we defeated our visitors here in the play-off eliminator, which we won 2-1 (Davide Rodari and an own goal).
