Defender Rocco Gamblin has joined Bognor Regis Town. The young full-back returned this summer after spending a year at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs as a student-athlete. He played a few times in pre-season under Chirs Agutter but has now headed to Nyewood Lane.
In the previous season (2022/23), Rocco was a key member of the Rebels’ U18s squad and scored nine goals that season from left back. Everyone at the club would like to wish Rocco the best of luck as he takes the next steps in his career.
Stan Berry, Evan Hoarty and Owen Spicer have all joined step four side Lancing on dual registration terms for the campaign. Stan and Evan were important members of the U18s squad last season that were league champions, cup finalists and crowned Champion of Champions. Owen has had previous spells on loan with Burgess Hill, Chichester City and Lancing previously and he has re-joined the Lancers on loan this season.
Freddie Chester has linked up with Horndean in the Isthmian South Central Division on another dual-registration deal. Freddie spent the second half of last season with the Deans and returns to the Hampshire side to gain more first-team experience this season.
Cavan Gratwick has agreed to join Steyning Town on dual registration terms for the campaign. The young midfielder missed a large part of last season through injury but returned in time to help the side finish the season in style. He links up with the Barrowmen for his first experience of first team football.
Elsewhere, several of the club’s second-year U18s have signed dual registration terms at Rustington, Pagham and Selsey.
Pathways Manager Stuart Evans commented, “It’s been a very busy pre-season organising and arranging clubs for our second and third year under 18s.
“We have found working with the local clubs in and around Sussex an absolute pleasure and we now believe we’ve got the right clubs for the right players. We’re looking forward to working alongside the local clubs to further progress our young players’ football experience and to provide them the pathway into men’s football”.
The club has 18 young players in Sussex and Surrey now experiencing their first experience of men’s football this season.
