The Rebels were beaten last weekend in the FA Trophy by Gosport Borough after the Boro scored a late equaliser to take the contest to penalties, before eventually winning the shootout.
Speaking after last week’s defeat, an honest Chris Agutter took responsibility for the defeat, stating, “We haven’t done everything we could have to help the players today. So that’s disappointing.”
In terms of the National League South, however, the Rebels find themselves in a strong position ahead of the festive period. Agutter’s side are just three points off top spot and have won their last two league matches at home to Weston-super-Mare and away at Salisbury.
They sit 6th in the league table ahead of tomorrow’s contest after results in midweek.
Special Edition Shirt
The Rebels will be sporting a special edition purple kit tomorrow afternoon, launched in collaboration with Macron and wecanfly for UK Disability History Month.
This first-of-its-kind collaboration with leading sportswear manufacturer Macron and inclusive design platform wecanfly celebrates inclusion, accessibility, and community while supporting charitable efforts to improve facilities at Worthing Football Club to better accommodate people with disabilities.
Team News
Chris Agutter confirmed an extensive injury list ahead of tomorrow’s match. He confirmed that Tommy Willard, Mo Faal and Nicky Wheeler will not be available for the weekend, while Joe Cook and Jack Bates remain doubtful.
View from the Camp – Chris Agutter
“We’re looking forward to getting back to league action and it’s an opportunity to make it three wins in a row in the league and build on a decent home record.
“I’m not sure their league position does them any justice by any stretch. We know it’s going to be tough, they carry a goal threat in Jeffers and Charles and have quality in deeper areas with the likes of Rasulo, so we know they’re a threat and we’ll be really conscious of that.
“Equally, we know that if we’re at our best and we continue our upward trajectory in terms of performances, we know it’s going to take a very good St Albans performance to take anything from Woodside.”
The Opposition
The 2024/25 season has been a bit of a struggle so far for the Saints, as they find themselves in the relegation spots after 20 matches. Having won just two league matches this season, David Noble left the club by mutual consent three weeks ago and he has been replaced in the dugout by former Boston United Manager, Ian Culverhouse.
Since Culverhouse’s appointment as Manager, St Albans have played just two matches. They picked up a point away at Maidstone United in his first game in charge on 30th November, before falling to a 3-0 defeat at local rivals Boreham Wood this past Tuesday.
