Worthing and Enfield Town first met in an FA Cup 2nd qualifying round match, played on 26th September 2010 at Goldsdown Road, the home of Brimsdown Rovers. The hosts won 1-0 in what was to be their last season at that ground, before they moved into their current Donkey Lane ground.
At the time of the FA Cup meeting, we were in Isthmian Division 1 South and our opponents were in the North division; all of the subsequent matches between our two sides have taken place in the Isthmian League Premier Division, starting in 2016-17.
Enfield won both fixtures that first season, 2-1 at their ground (Jack Cook scoring for us) and 3-1 at Woodside Road, when Lloyd Dawes scored our consolation. The following season we drew 2-2 at home, Ben Pope and Jimmy Wild scoring, then Zack Newton netted the only goal of the match in Middlesex.
On 13th November 2018, Zack scored again in the away fixture, and further goals from Jesse Starkey and David Ajiboye (twice) secured a 4-1 win. That margin of victory was reversed at Woodside Road, Enfield winning 3-0.
The following season we won the home fixture 3-2, with Joel Colbran, Reece Myles-Meekums and Ollie Pearce on the scoresheet, but to no avail, as the season was declared null and void because of Covid regulations.
We did not meet in the second Covid season, but in our championship year we took four points from Enfield, who were one of our main challengers for promotion. Reece Myles-Meekums and Jasper Pattenden scored in the 2-2 away draw, and the latest meeting, on 26th February 2022, finished 3-0 in our favour, following two goals from Davide Rodari and one from Jasper Pattenden.
