It was a disappointing result and performance last time out that saw the Reds fall to a four-nil defeat on their travels at Slough. Worthing were three goals down at the break after goals from John Gilbert, Scott Davies and Slavi Spasov. Spasov added a fourth after the break to put the game beyond any doubt.
Despite the defeat, the Rebels are still in a strong position in the league table. Currently 4th, six points off top with three games in hand and with games in hand over all of the other teams around them, too.
Team News
Sam Beard will serve the first of a three-match suspension on Saturday following his red card against Torquay United.
Liam Nash is doubtful after he was replaced at the break last weekend with a groin injury.
View from the Camp – Chris Agutter
“It’s difficult to be too critical of the group. When we reflect on it, we reflect on the whole picture – and whether or not we gave ourselves the best chance to be as competitive as possible last weekend, I’m not so sure.
“Hopefully we can produce a similar level of performance this weekend as we did at Salisbury earlier this season. In that game, we were excellent so the challenge is to try and replicate that.
“It’s in our hands and that’s the main thing. We’re masters of our own destiny with where we’re at in terms of points-per-game and games in hand. I would rather be in that position than rely on others to do us a favour. We just need to get back on the horse and build on where we’re at.”
The Opposition
Salisbury are currently 19th in the division, five points clear of safety with a game in hand. Last time out, they earned a point on their travels away at Chesham United.
Before their defeat against Dorking Wanderers a fortnight ago, Brian Dutton’s side had been on a seven-game unbeaten run in the National League South, but frustratingly, had only won two of those seven matches. Only St Albans City (13) have drawn more matches than Salisbury (12) so far this season.

Previous Meetings
This season is the first time that we have played the current Salisbury club, which was founded in 2015. We played the away National League South match on 3rd December and won 2-0, with goals from Danny Cashman and Harrison Smith.
We played the previous Salisbury club three times. On 21st December 1985 we beat them 1-0 at home in an FA Trophy tie. In 2004-05, by which time they were known as Salisbury City, we faced each other in the Isthmian League Premier Division, and we won both fixtures – 5-1 at home and 2-1 away.
