11 league matches unbeaten, 5 successive league wins. It’s been a pretty good couple of months for Chris Agutter’s side! Following their victory at Tonbridge Angels on Saturday, they now sit just one point off top-spot, with three games in hand.

Saturday’s win highlighted the strength in depth that the squad now has, with the winning goal scored by their newest signing Liam Nash and the other scored by Tommy Willard who had missed the majority of the last two months through injury.

Tonight’s match is a repeat of the Isuzu FA Trophy Fourth Round match that took place at the Sussex Transport Community Stadium just over five weeks ago. Anyone connected with Worthing will be hoping that it will also be a repeat of that result, as Worthing demolished their Devon counterparts 5-1.

Team News

Agutter’s squad will be bolstered this evening, with the return of Sam Beard from suspension. While new signing Liam Nash looks set to make his home debut for the club.

View from the Camp – Chris Agutter

“We know Torquay are a massive football club and will bring massive support. We know they will be coming to Woodside with a bit of a bee in their bonnet after the FA Trophy.

“We know it’s going to be a very tough game. They are one of the best teams we’ve played all season so we know it’s going to be a really tough game.

“We’re going to need all the Rebels out in full force to help us get over the line.”

The Opposition

When the sides met in the Isuzu FA Trophy just over five weeks ago, the Gulls came into the contest on the back of an impressive 13-game unbeaten run that had them in top spot in the National League South.

Since that 5-1 defeat to Worthing in the Trophy, Torquay have only won two of their six matches. Their victory against Eastbourne Borough on Saturday put paid to a four-match winless streak.

They now sit 5th in the league table, three points behind Worthing in 2nd having played a game fewer, but just four points behind the league leaders Dorking, with a game in hand.
