The diminutive midfielder has extended his stay at the Sussex Transport Community Stadium, with the start of pre-season on the horizon.

Spong began his career at Brighton & Hove Albion, making one senior appearance for the Seagulls. A loan spell at Crawley Town followed to assist his development in senior football before signing for Scottish outfit Queen’s Park on a permanent basis upon his release from the Premier League side.

After joining the Rebels during the latter stages of the 2023/24 season, the now 23-year-old made an instant impression in West Sussex.

Spongy has netted several important goals for the Club so far, including a precisely placed effort in the Play-off Final against Braintree Town.

He commenced last campaign in fashion, netting four goals in our opening three matches. Two pin-point free-kicks in our thrilling 4-3 comeback win away to Weston-super-Mare on the opening day preceded goals in the away draws at St. Albans City and Hemel Hempstead.

Our midfield maestro finished the season strongly, with a goal against Dorking Wanderers and a penalty in the 5-1 drubbing of Enfield Town on the final day of the regular campaign.

Spong was a consistent force in Chris Agutter’s squad last term, featuring in all 46 National League South games.

To date, the Englishman has made 68 appearances for the Club, recording 26 goal contributions along the way.

With Spong’s stay now confirmed, the Rebels boast a plethora of midfield options ahead of the 2025/26 season. Alongside Jack, existing midfielders Glen Rea and Odei Martin Sorondo have also penned new deals, with Matt Burgess and Kwaku Frimpong’s arrivals further bolstering the ranks.

Buzzing to have you on board, Spongy!
