Our all-time record appearance holder, goalscorer and former Club Captain Gemma Worsfold has joined Jesus Cordon’s coaching staff ahead of the 2025/26 season.
Her return completes a cyclical story with the Club, from record-breaking captain to mentor and tactician.
As a player, Gemma was a committed and hard-working midfielder, whose fiery persona and leadership qualities contributed to countless collective successes on the pitch.
The newest addition to our coaching staff offers plenty of experience, with overseas stints at North American outfit North Jersey Valkyries and Australian side Coffs United.
Her bond with the Club has been forged over many seasons, leading the side to numerous successes, including captaining the Rebels to two league titles. The former midfielder undoubtedly was, and will now continue to be, a pivotal part of our ongoing rise up the football pyramid, with our Women’s team currently gearing up for another season in the FA Women’s National League Division One South West.
In November 2023, Gemma reached an incredible milestone, making her 150th appearance for the Rebels against Norwich City.
The former skipper’s leadership was etched into our history as she lifted silverware at Woodside Road on multiple occasions.
On Gemma’s homecoming, Jesus Cordon said; “Having Gemma back is fantastic for us, she’s the best person to have on board.
“Gemma brings a lot of experience. She knows the game and it will be very positive for the players to have a referent like her.
“You just need to walk around the Club with her for 10 minutes to know how much everyone loves her and how well she represents our values.”
“I can’t wait to start working and learning from her,” Jesus added.
Gemma was equally delighted to rejoin the Club and become part of the Spaniard’s coaching team.
“I’m excited to be back at the Club and looking forward to a new challenge,” Gemma revealed.
“Having played here for so many years I hope my experience and knowledge of the Club can help the team keep pushing on. I’m looking forward to meeting all the girls and getting started.”
It’s great to have you back home, Gemma!
