During midweek, the Rebels suffered their first defeat of the 2025/26 season at the hands of Spencer Day’s Farnborough.

A tense affair was decided by one goal on Wednesday night, as Mason Bloomfield finished an intricate team move with a smart finish past Seb Stacey in the closing stages of the contest.

Our search for parity was halted by a serious injury sustained by midfielder Aaron Kuhl. Over 50 minutes of stoppage time was played at the Saunders Transport Community Stadium as Kuhl received some medical attention.

Wednesday’s loss left us in 10th position in the league, having recorded a win, draw and defeat apiece thus far.

TEAM NEWS

Club captain Joel Colbran is serving the third and final match of the suspension he picked up in our National League South opener against Bath City, while defender Aarran Racine is nearing a return to action following a period on the sidelines.

THE OPPOSITION

Enfield are still searching for their first league victory of the new campaign after a tough start to the season.

Gavin MacPherson and his men fell to an opening day defeat to Torquay United before earning a point at home against Maidenhead United through a goalless draw. The Towners were also beaten 1-0 during midweek, as Hornchurch prevailed in the capital.

Last season, Enfield narrowly survived a swift return to the Isthmian Premier Division on the final day, despite a heavy defeat to Worthing.

Their final position in the league standings was 19th place, with just three points separating them from relegated St. Albans City.

Enfield Town are recognised as England’s first fully fan-owned football club. Established on June 23rd 2001 by fans of the original Enfield FC, Enfield Town were formed after members of the original club’s Supporters’ Trust voted to start a new club, following disagreements with the existing club’s ownership and the sale of their ground. The newly-formed Enfield Town commenced their history in the Essex Senior League before reaching the National League South in 2024.

THE GAFFER

Since joining the Club in the summer of 2023, Gavin Macpherson has overseen a dramatic improvement at the Dave Bryant Stadium.

In his first full season in charge, the Englishman guided the Club into the sixth tier by winning the Isthmian Premier Division play-offs. Enfield finished in third, before comprehensively beating Chatham Town in the play-off final to earn promotion into the National League South.

The 46-year-old also has experience in the dugout at Metropolitan Police, where he spent two decades as player, coach and eventually, manager.

ONE TO WATCH

Club captain Mickey Parcell has made almost 300 appearances for Enfield Town across two spells in North London.

The full-back is an ever-present figure in the Towners side, as he featured in all but three of Enfield’s National League South fixtures last season.

Enfield’s skipper has also appeared for Torquay United and Hornchurch during his career, winning the FA Trophy with the latter in 2021.

Parcell has netted Enfield’s only goal of the campaign thus far, as he scored against former side Torquay on the opening day.

LAST MEETING

Enfield Town 1-5 Worthing, National League South, 26th April 2025

Worthing ran riot on the final day of the 2024/25 regular season, as they thrashed Enfield Town 5-1 at the Dave Bryant Stadium.

Former Enfield man Muhammadu Faal grabbed a brace, while Glen Rea, Jack Spong and Liam Nash also found the net in the capital.

The opening stages of proceedings were evenly-contested, with both sides still having plenty to play for in late April. Enfield needed to match or better St Albans City’s result to survive demotion, while Worthing still had a chance of lifting the National League South title if results elsewhere went in their favour.

Rea broke the deadlock just before the break as he rose highest from a corner and guided a header into the net.

After the interval, the Rebels found their groove, with opponents Enfield knowing their status in the sixth tier was almost guaranteed due to St Albans trailing 3-0 away to eventual league winners Truro.

Spong calmly slotted in a penalty before Faal venomously drilled in a third from the edge of the box. The 6’5 striker then produced a very late ‘Goal of the Season’ contender as he found the top corner from an acute angle with a audacious volley.

Enfield managed to grab a consolation goal before Nash curled in a free-kick from 25 yards out to seal a five-star performance from the visitors.
