The latest addition to the matchday experience at the Sussex Transport Community Stadium is a new Club mascot, which could be spotted on the pitch sidelines on the weekend.
A huge thank you to the Worthing Football Club Supporters Association for their assistance in creating our new Club mascot.
After thorough research, the Supporters Association landed on the mascot’s appearance, which resembles a mackerel – as a nod to our modernised Club badge and nickname ‘The Mackerel Men’.
This larger-than-life fish is more than just a homage to the Club’s seaside heritage – it’s another step towards our consistent efforts to be a Club that is engaged in its community, while also assisting in the matchday entertainment and Club identity.
James Easton, a representative of the Supporters Association, commented: “Keep an eye out for some Mackie themed surprises in the near future and ways to get involved.
“Mackie will also be present at our Women’s games and is really looking forward to supporting our fantastic Women’s team.
“A big thank you to Noel from Speedy Freight Brighton who has got involved and helped out.
“We are currently looking for volunteers who would like to be “Mackie’s Mate” for the day, which will involve escorting Mackie around the pitch before the game and at half-time.
“We are over the moon at the reaction Mackie received at Saturday’s game versus Bath City and thank you to all who supported Mackie with open arms and took the opportunity to pose for photos and selfies.”
