Men
Sussex Senior Cup Round 2 Tue 7 October Tester and Jones Sportsground
Jarvis Brook
Worthing
19:30

This will be our first meeting with The Brook in our history, as Interim Manager Dean Hammond and his players travel to the Limekiln Playing Fields in the second round of the county cup.

Last season, we reached the last eight of the competition before being knocked out by local rivals Horsham in a penalty shootout. The squad will have ambitions of improving last year’s run and are vying to add a 23rd Sussex Senior Cup honour to the trophy cabinet.

On the weekend, the Rebels fell to a narrow defeat away to Maidenhead United. Liam Dulson’s strike midway through the first half was the difference in Berkshire as the travelling Reds had several penalty appeals turned down by the referee.

There is now a fortnight break before we are next in league action on the road to Chelmsford City. Following tomorrow night’s tie, the TNT Sports cameras are in town for our Emirates FA Cup Fourth Round Qualifying clash with Robbie Savage’s Forest Green Rovers. Due to the match being selected for television coverage, the encounter has been moved to the evening of Monday 13th October, resulting in almost a full week to prepare following tomorrow’s action.

THE OPPOSITION

Tuesday night’s game is being advertised as one of the biggest games in Jarvis Brook’s 128-year history.

It is a momentous occasion for numerous reasons. Not only are we the highest ranked team to visit the Tester and Jones Sportsground, but this is the furthest stage the Step 5 outfit have ever reached in this competition.

After 11 games, Jarvis Brook currently reside in sixth position in the Southern Combination Football League Division One. Tomorrow opponents are a side that are not accustomed to losing, as they have only tasted defeat twice this season, with four wins and five draws in their other league outings.

Jarvis Brook FC earned promotion last term, marking their first venture into senior football. This achievement was supported by significant investment in infrastructure, including new floodlights and stands.

Despite both teams having very different backgrounds and competing at completely different levels, they share one similarity heading into the Second Round tie.  During the last week, Jarvis Brook have also parted ways with their manager, with Jacob Wilson leaving his post on Sunday. After a successful spell with the club, Wilson will mark his departure by managing The Brook for the final time tomorrow evening against the Rebels.
