The vastly-experienced 27-year-old has agreed terms with the Rebels after a period training with the squad as a free agent.

Worthing born and bred, Cox most recently was on the books at League Two outfit Swindon Town, where he played 26 times in League Two for the Robins in the 2024/25 campaign. He opened his account by scoring the opener in a 3-2 triumph away to Cheltenham in early October while also netting netted the winner in Swindon’s dramatic 3-2 victory over Colchester in the eighth minute of stoppage-time from the penalty spot before sustaining a foot injury in January which limited his minutes in the latter stages of the season

Before his time at The County Ground, the Englishman was a mainstay in Fortuna Sittard and Volendam’s side, two teams who compete in the Eredivise. In total, he made 131 appearances in the top division of Dutch football, scoring eight times while also supplying nine assists.

Predominantly a left-back, George can also be deployed further up the flank, with his technical attributes also allowing him to be comfortable in the middle of the park. His versatility provides depth and quality to a variety of positions on the pitch, and Adam Hinshelwood shared his thoughts on the signing.

Hinsh: “He’s got a wand of a left foot and can deliver a ball on a sixpence. He’s got an enormous amount of quality and we are delighted to add him to the group.”

Like several other members of our roster, our newest addition developed his skills in Brighton & Hove Albion’s academy as a youngster.

George is available for tomorrow’s National League South encounter with Dover Athletic, a perfect opportunity for him to unveil his talents in front of the supporters. He will wear the number 14 for the Rebels.

Welcome aboard, George!
