We first played the current Hornchurch club not long after they had reformed under the name AFC Hornchurch, the original club having folded at the end of the previous season.

This first encounter was an FA Cup tie that was played on 24th September 2005 in Upminster and goals from Mark Knee, Stafford Browne and Sam Francis (2) gave us a 4-1 win.

The following year we played them at Woodside Road in a pre-season friendly, winning 1-0. The next competitive meeting came in 2015 in another FA Cup match that ended 4-1 to the visitors, this match taking place at Woodside Road.

In 2018/19 we played them in the Isthmian League Premier Division for the first time and won the home match 3-1, after having drawn 1-1 away earlier in the season.

The following season we were beaten 6-0 at home and the Urchins were looking likely to be one of our main challengers for the title when the season was abandoned because of Covid.

We did not meet in the truncated 2020/21 season, but the following year we followed up a 3-1 away win with a 1-1 home draw, and ended the season as champions.

Last season was the first time that we met in National League South. We failed to score in either fixture, having a goalless draw at home and suffering a 1-0 defeat in the latest meeting, on 25th March.
