The game kicked off and both sides came out of the blocks sharply. Reece Myles-Meekums came close inside the first minute, before Harrison Male denied the hosts on the counter attack seconds later.

Worthing would be rewarded for their fast start in the 7th minute. Dajon Golding rounded goalkeeper Sam Howes, before placing the ball into an empty net.

The Rebels had chances to double their lead, however they were made to pay for missing such opportunities. Aaran Racine was sent off for a second bookable offence in the 34th minute and for the remainder of the first half, Horsham took control.

The Hornets were rewarded for their dominance. Late into first half stoppage time, they found an equaliser. Lee Harding cut inside and picked out the top corner, with a fantastic curling effort on his left foot.

Despite being down to 10 men, The Champions began the second half well. Ollie Pearce came close in a number of half-chances early on for Hinshelwood’s side.

Unfortunately, after a controversial referee decision as Horsham were allowed to play on after Marvin Armstrong was brought down in midfield, the hosts scored to put themselves in front. Lucas Rodrigues stretched out well to tap home beyond Male.

The Mackerel Men struggled to get back into proceedings as The Yellows took control late on. In the 87th minute they extended their advantage. Charlie Harris beat Male from the edge of the area.

In the end, The Rebels weren’t able to get back into the game and Horsham deservedly earned all three points.
