Football has been played at the ground since the 1920s, however, it lay derelict for some years after World War II. Until a campaign was initiated to reform Bexleyheath & Welling FC and it was then the ground of Bexley United. Welling have played at the ground since 1977 and groundshare with Erith & Belvedere.

The ground’s name ‘Park View Road’ comes from a section of the A207 road in Welling, immediately adjacent to Danson Park.

Welling’s record attendance is 4,100 vs Gillingham in the FA Cup First Round on Wednesday 22nd November 1989, which ended in a 1-0 victory for the hosts.

Travel

By Road

If you are travelling by road from anywhere other than Kent, take the M25 to Junction 2. At the roundabout, take the A2 towards Central London.

Leave the A2 at the third exit (Danson Interchange, signposted A221 to Bexleyheath and Sidcup). Turn right (second exit) at the roundabout at the end of the slip road, and then turn right (third exit) at the next roundabout.

Go under the A2 bridge and up the slope to another roundabout. Take the second exit and follow the road (Danson Road) to the traffic lights at the end. Turn left at the lights onto Park View Road. The ground is on the left.

‘There is no car park, but plenty of street parking is available’.

By Train

The nearest train station is Welling. Off-peak trains leave half hourly from both London Victoria and London Charing Cross (also calling at Waterloo East and London Bridge). From the station, go down the slope to the road at the bottom.

Turn left and go to the end of the road. Turn left onto Bellegrove Road. This becomes Welling High Street and then Park View Road.

The ground is on the right just after the Guy, Earl of Warwick pub; it is approximately a 15-20 minute walk.

By Bus

If you wish to go by bus, numbers 89, 486 and B16 run past the ground from the station.

Ground Facilities

Turnstiles will be open from 1pm for a 3pm kick off. This match is not segregated and food and drink will be available to both sets of fans. There’s a clubhouse at the ground that welcomes away fans with the entrance located just outside the turnstiles.

Away Pubs

Almost next door to the stadium is a pub called the ‘Guy Earl of Warwick’. Further along the high street there are a number of other pubs including the Rose & Crown, the Nag’s Head and a Wetherspoons pub called the New Cross Turnpike.

There is also an interesting micro pub on the high street called the Door Hinge, it sells only real ale and cider and seats 22 people.

If you take a left out of the ground onto the main road, then passing the ‘Guy Earl Of Warwick’ pub on your left then you’ll reach in this order on the right; the Rose and Crown, the Door Hinge, the Nag’s Head and then the Wetherspoons pub is further down on the left (past Tescos and KFC).
