He endeared himself to the Rebels faithful almost immediately with a goal in the 3-0 win over rivals Bognor Regis Town on August Bank Holiday Monday.
Armstrong’s energy, ability to break up play and drive with the ball helped him become an integral cog in the heart of Adam Hinshelwood’s midfield, amassing 89 appearances in a Covid-affected three year spell.
Hinshelwood is sorry to lose the midfielder but is still happy with the balance of his squad: “There’s no doubt we’ll miss Marv’s attributes but it’s a great opportunity for him to go to Barnet”. “Kane Wills has been superb so far this season, Danny Barker is getting close to full fitness and it’s a great opportunity now for Sammie McLeod too – we’ve still got plenty of options in midfield”.
“The profile of the club is going to continue to attract attention from the bigger clubs, we’re seeing it more and more with Ricky, Jasper and now Marvin in the last 12 months.”
The club would like to thank Marvin for his service and wish him all the best at his new club.
