Ibrahim Akanbi scored the only goal of the game and his second in as many matches to keep Worthing in seventh position.

Meanwhile, visitors Slough were narrowly beaten at home by second placed Dartford.

Form

Worthing’s midweek victory put an end to a poor run of form which saw them go winless for six fixtures in in all competitions.

Slough have also had a disappointing October having not won throughout the month.

Recent meetings

The two sides have already met this season in the FA Cup second qualifying roundat Arbour Park last month.

After a goalless first half, the home side took the lead on the hour mark through Lee Togwell, and were in front until the 82nd minute until Kane Wills equalised for Worthing.

With the game heading towards a replay at Woodside Road, Ollie Pearce put the Reds ahead to turn the game on its head with two minutes of normal time remaining.

Slough piled men forward in search of an equaliser, and Worthing broke deep in injury time through Pearce who scored his second and Worthing’s third to secure the win.

Skipper Aarran Racine serves the last of his three match ban, however Adam Hinshelwood’s defensive options will be boosted by the return of Cam Tutt following concussion.

Hinshelwood revealed that James Beresford and Harrison Male both took knocks at Dulwich on Tuesday evening and will need to be assessed ahead of the game.

Despite his red card at Champion Hill, Javaun Splatt will be available before his suspension kicks in on Tuesday.
