Defender Joel Colbran’s goal cancelled out the opener on the hour from the hosts Bradley Sach and Hinshelwood was happy with how his team responded to going behind.

‘I felt we did alright to be fair, Potters Bar lined up exactly as we expected with the 3 up front, but we restricted them to only long range efforts in the first half, it was a pretty even game to that point.’

‘Their pitch allowed for more attacking play, so we went with two front men and really it could have gone either way, we hoped that was going to be the case in the second half but it didn’t quite happen for us. I’m pleased at how we responded when we went behind, thats a positive but we can’t keep waiting for the opposition to score before we get going, we need to take the initiative.’

‘Changing the shape to four at the back, that encouraged the full backs to push on further and contributed to Joel’s goal. We possibly could have done that earlier than we possibly did, thats one for me to learn from and maybe approach things a bit differently and more quickly in the future.’

‘It’s very pleasing though to get something from this game missing four big players in Aarran Racine, Alfie Young, Ross Edwards and Alex Parsons, but it just shows the strength and depth of our squad we were still competitive and with quality.’

Hinshelwood was pleased to see both Ollie Pearce and Will Miles complete 90 minutes.

‘This was the first full ninety minutes Ollie and Will have done and we’ll make sure we look at both before the weekend to make sure there is no adverse reactions before the FA Cup match at Chelmsford.’
