It’s the third of five consecutive home games for the Reds and the first of three matches in a week, all in different competitions.

Adam Hinshelwood’s side were involved in a dramatic 2-2 draw against Truro last time out in a match which saw the Rebels reduced to nine men and concede the equalising goal in injury time.

Worthing were slow out of the blocks in the first half and went into the break a goal down Ed Palmer’s early goal.

Rejuvenated after the interval, Hinshelwood’s side equalised on the hour mark through Joe Felix but were reduced to ten men soon after when Luca Woodhouse received a second yellow card.

Despite the disadvantage in numbers, the Reds remained on top and went ahead when Ollie Pearce converted his penalty on 75 minutes.

There was yet more drama when Joe Felix was given his marching orders. A somewhat innocuous incident led to his sending off.

With backs to the wall into added time, the Rebels couldn’t hold on as Ryan Brett scored in the 95th minute to earn the visitors a point.

The Reds remain fifth in the league table, just three points off top.

In the FA Cup, Worthing overcame Sussex rivals Whitehawk in the previous round, thanks to a brace from Jake Robinson, including a fantastic scorpion kick effort.

The Opposition

High-flying Bath City sit two points and two positions above Worthing in 3rd in the National League South. The Romans are the league’s joint-top scorers with 22 goals in 11 matches.

Last time out in the Emirates FA Cup, Bath defeated Weymouth 2-1 on the road.

Previous Meetings

In the two league meetings last term, Worthing earned a point on the road thanks to a late Ollie Starkey equaliser. But, it was Bath who were the victors on the South Coast, winning 3-2 at Woodside Road.

Worthing in the FAC4RQ

On 16^th October 1999 Worthing drew 1-1 at home to Dover Athletic, of the Conference, thanks to a late equaliser from Ben Carrington. Three days later, Tony Holden scored the only goal of the replay at the Crabble, in extra-time. The Rebels lost 3-0 at Rotherham United in the first round – the last time the club made it to that stage of the competition.

In 2018-19 the Rebels were back in the last qualifying round but lost 4-0 to National League side Ebbsfleet United at their Stonebridge Road ground.

Team News

Adam Hinshelwood will be without his captain Aarran Racine for the FA Cup tie. The skipper pulled up with a knee injury during the Rebels’ 2-2 draw with Truro last week.

It is doubtful whether Greg Luer will be fit to play in Saturday’s cup tie either. The forward has a badly bruised foot which was also sustained last time out.
