The Rebels were backed by incredible travelling support yesterday (Saturday 4th November) during their Emirates FA Cup First Round defeat at Alfreton Town.
Supporters embarked on a 420-mile round trip, travelling in numbers to support the team. The Worthing FC Supporters’ Association took two packed coaches to Derbyshire, while others made their own way to Impact Arena, travelling in minibuses, cars, trains, and a local bus or two!
Chairman Barry Hunter hailed the support from the travelling Reds:
“Our supporters were first class. I’m not sure the exact number but it must have been around 350 which would have made up over a third of the attendance. From minute one they made the ground theirs. They made it feel like a home game. They didn’t stop singing and cheering the team on, throughout the 90 minutes.
Whilst it wasn’t the result we went up for, we gave an incredibly strong account of ourselves, on and off the pitch as a whole club. We have had a very good FA Cup campaign this season and I want to thank everybody involved for making more history with this first round fixture. We wish Alfreton Town FC a good draw in the next round.
