Worthing returned to winning ways last time out, with a 3-0 away win at Farnborough.

Three second half goals for the Reds from Joan Luque, Ollie Pearce and Ricky Aguiar in a brilliant performance helped the Rebels up to 7th, back in the play off places in the National League South.

Pearce’s rich vein of form in front of goal continued; the striker has now scored five in his last five matches and he’s helped the Rebels to three wins in their last four league outings.

The Opposition

Taunton Town are currently placed 15th in the league table, with 24 points from 16 games.

The Peacocks are winless in their last six matches in all competitions and were knocked out of the Isuzu FA Trophy after losing on penalties to Welling United in midweek.

The Somerset side have only won one game in their last ten, when they beat Eastbourne Borough 2-1 in September.

Previous Meetings

The last time the sides met, it was the Peacocks who came from two goals down to win 3-2 in Somerset. Ollie Pearce netted from the spot before Ibby Akanbi added the Rebels’ second before Taunton scored two penalties of their own through Ross Stern, before the forward completed his hattrick to secure all three points for the home side.

The reverse fixture last season ended in a 1-1 draw when Akanbi’s opener was cancelled out by Dave Sims-Burgess’ header.

The only other meeting between the sides was back in January 2004 when the Rebels won 3-0 in the 3rd Round of the FA Trophy.

Team News

Nicky Wheeler is likely to miss Saturday’s encounter with the Peacocks after the recurrence of an ankle injury on Tuesday night which he initially picked up during the Rebels’ defeat at home to Dartford.

Jake Robinson is unlikely to make a return to the side this weekend as he recovers from a hamstring injury. Boss Adam Hinshelwood commented, “He’s not far away. He’s doing some good work, so we’re hoping to have him back training with the group next week”.

Glen Rea remains a couple of weeks away from a return as he recovers from a broken toe.

Travel & Parking

By Car
The Stadium is easily accessible from all major routes into the town.

M5 – leave the motorway at Junction 25. Take the exit off roundabout signposted Taunton (A38). Go straight over first roundabout, keeping in left hand or middle lane. Continue along the Toneway and keep straight on at the four-way traffic light junction until reaching a roundabout where the left hand lane should be taken onto Chritchard Way. Stay left and take exit at traffic lights, then go straight ahead at traffic lights immediately after. Continue around the corner into Wordsworth Drive and the ground is on the left.

A303 – approach Taunton via A358 through Henlade. At M5 Junction 25 roundabout follow signs for Taunton as above.

Parking – Matchday parking at the Stadium is £2 per vehicle.

By Rail
The Stadium is an approximate 25 minute walk from Taunton Railway Station. There are various routes available; turn left when leaving the station onto Trenchard Way and walk eastwards, going over bridge until reaching roundabout adjoining Priory Fields Retail Park. Cross over road into Priory Avenue and turn left. Route will take you onto footpath in Victoria Park. Exit onto Alfred Street which leads to East Reach. Cross road at traffic lights by Holcombes Car Mart and keep right into Wordsworth Drive. Ground is on the left. Should you wish to walk via the town centre, this is signposted from the railway station.

Alternatively taxis and buses are available. Bus No 1 runs to the Parade in the town centre and from there No 4 and No 51 drop off at Leycroft Road, a three minute walk from the ground.
