The Mackerel Men will look to close the gap on leaders Tonbridge Angels after Kent rivals Margate ended Worthing’s unbeaten league record at Woodside Road earlier in the month. These two sides have already met this season in the Velocity Trophy when a late David Ajiboye goal gave Worthing a narrow 1-0 win although manager Adam Hinshelwood is expecting a much different game this time around.

‘I don’t think we’ll face the same side they fielded in the cup tie, that was a young side playing for them and although they caused us some problems that night, I’m expecting to see a more experienced side facing us on Saturday. Although they haven’t started the season as strong as they would have liked, our players know they will need to be on top of their game.’

‘There’s no advantage in the cup win for us, they will have a good idea of the way we play, maybe not so much our shape, I do however expect them to be hard to break down. Our goal is be better at home, to entertain our supporters and we haven’t done that in the last couple of games here. If they do come with an attacking intent, it bodes well for being a very good game.’

‘Getting an early goal will settle things down and help to get the crowd up for the game, but all games in this league are tight affairs, we will focus on ourselves to be better and hopefully get the right result at the end of it.’

Hinshelwood is still without the services of Aarran Racine, Alfie Young, Ross Edwards and Alex Parsons, but Zack Newton is in contention to be included after signing a 1 month loan deal from National League South side Welling United yesterday.
