Adam Hinshelwood’s side were defeated by Chelmsford last time out, despite a brace by talisman Ollie Pearce.

The Clarets took the lead inside the first minute when Freddie Hockey opened the scoring and they doubled their advantage just 15 minutes later, when Charlie Ruff capped off a nightmare start for the hosts.

Hinshelwood’s side, “gave it a right go” to get back into the game before half-time and Pearce added his 17th league goal of the season to reduce the deficit. But, the pivotal moment in the first half was the penalty that never was for the Rebels. Ben Brookes appeared to block Jake Robinson’s goal-bound shot with his arm to deflect it wide, but the referee saw nothing doing.

The second half was a far cagier affair with the Rebels then tasked with getting past the stubborn 10-men behind-the-ball approach from the Clarets and the away side added a sucker punch in the 83rd minute when Jermaine Francis restored their two-goal advantage.

Pearce scored his second from a wonderful free kick in added time, but it was the game’s final kick as the referee blew the full-time whistle immediately.

The Rebels remain in the playoffs in 5th with 43 points from 26 matches.

The Opposition

The White Tigers, managed by former Plymouth Argyle captain Paul Wotton, have been on a very impressive run of late and are second in the form guide as a result, with five wins in their last six.

They beat Dover Athletic last time out to make it a fourth consecutive win in the National League South, meaning the White Tigers are just seven points off the playoffs with plenty of games in hand as they play catch up having only played 23 matches so far this season.

To add to their impressive winning run, Truro have also kept three consecutive clean sheets against Havant, Torquay and most recently Dover.

This is only the second meeting in history between the two sides, with the reverse fixture earlier this season being the first.

Joe Felix and Ollie Pearce scored for the Rebels in a dramatic encounter that saw the Reds reduced to nine men following red cards for Felix and Luca Woodhouse. Despite being reduced to ten men, the Rebels got themselves in front. But following the second red card, Truro managed to salvage a point right at the death.

Team News

Nicky Wheeler and Joan Luque are both away and will miss this Saturday’s trip to Bolitho Park.

Michael Klass (illness), Greg Luer (groin) and Odei Martin Sorondo (knee) are all doubtful ahead of the meeting with the White Tigers with an assessment of the players to be made closer to kick-off.

Jesse Starkey returned to training with the squad on Thursday and could potentially make his return for the Rebels in the West Country tomorrow afternoon.
