The Rebels jumped to second place in the National League South table after a scintillating second half performance at Truro which helped them win 4-1 on their travels.

In what was a quiet first half in terms of chances, the Rebels went a goal down on the half-hour mark when Tyler Harvey headed home for the White Tigers.

Danny Cashman replied with a header of his own on the stroke of half time to ensure the sides went into the interval on level terms.

The timing of the equaliser proved critical for the Rebels as they came out with a newfound confidence in the second half, blowing away a Truro side that had won six of their last seven.

Ollie Pearce scored some ten minutes into the second period before Cashman doubled the advantage just two minutes later after the forward line pressed in tandem to win the ball back in the box.

The performance was capped off with a fantastic team move for the fourth goal that ended with Pearce netting his twentieth league goal of the season.

Adam Hinshelwood admitted that it was one of his “favourite performances” of the season.

The Opposition

The Angels were beaten by Hemel Hempstead in their last outing but they find themselves just three points off the playoff places in the National League South as they sit in 11th.

After their New Year’s Day defeat against Maidstone United, they picked up their first win of the new year against Weymouth a fortnight ago.

Previous Meetings

The Rebels played host to Tonbridge on the opening day this season with Nicky Wheeler scoring in injury time to secure a 1-0 win to get the Rebels up and running with three points.

Last season’s meetings were both won by the home side. The Reds picked up a 3-2 win at Woodside Road in November 2022, a match where the winning margin should have been far greater. However, Tonbridge came out on top in the reverse fixture in February, winning 2-1.

Team News

Nicky Wheeler is still away and won’t be available for Adam Hinshelwood to select tomorrow afternoon, while youngster Ollie Starkey missed Thursday night’s training session through illness and is now a doubt heading into the trip to Kent.

Hinshelwood confirmed that Greg Luer is still struggling with a groin injury that saw him play no part in the warm-up last time out, despite coming on as a late substitute while Odei Martin Sorondo is waiting on a scan to understand the extent of his knee injury.

In positive news, Joan Luque and Zac Jeanes both returned to training this week and Michael Klass made his return to the pitch at Truro last time out, playing through an illness that he has now recovered fully from.

New signing Alfie Young will bolster Hinshelwood’s defensive options with the defender rejoining the club from Ramsgate. He is available to feature against the Angels.
