The defender will join upon the expiration of his contract with Gateshead.
The 24-year-old spent final two months of the season in the north east after leaving Dorking Wanderers by mutual consent in March.
He made just one appearance for the Tynesiders though after suffering a concussion on his debut.
Cook becomes the third defensive addition to the squad since the end of the season, following Sam Beard and Ollie Black into the club.
A tough tackling centre back, he’s also comfortable with the ball at his feet and likes to step out of defence in possession, making him the ideal fit for Chris Agutter’s side.
“Cookie is a brilliant addition to the Football Club, both in terms of our way of playing as well as the type of person we want here at Woodside”.
“He’s an excellent centre back who further bolsters our defensive options”. “He is a very good player at the league above which illustrates what a coup for the club this is”.
Cook’s early years were spent in the youth setups at AFC Bournemouth and Sheffield Wednesday. After leaving the Owls he began his senior career in non-league with Winchester City.
His first crack at the National League came with a move to Havant & Waterlooville in 2019. After a handful of appearances for the Hawks he joined Bognor Regis Town on loan in a move that would eventually become permanent.
He would spend two years at Nyewood Lane and his performances for the Rocks caught the eye of those up the ladder, earning him a move to Chesterfield in the summer of 2022.
His opportunities at the Technique Stadium were limited however and he joined Wanderers later that year, where he went on to make 30 National League appearances during his time at the club.
