Cordon joins the Rebels from Sussex rivals Haywards Heath
Jesus’ appointment follows a thorough and extensive recruitment process in finding the club’s next permanent manager following John Donoghue’s departure at the end of the 23/24 season, with a focus on a candidate who can seamlessly adopt the club’s established footballing philosophy.
Football Director Nathan Bowen said, “We’re really pleased to welcome Jesus to the club. After an extensive recruitment process, it became clear that Jesus really aligned with the club’s philosophy of developing young players, playing attractive football, and building a long term project for the future.”
“As a club, we are really proud of how brilliantly our women’s team have developed over the last few years and it was important we took our time through this process to make sure we found the right person to continue this journey with.”
“With his experience of coaching at this level and above, plus his diligence and attention to detail, we feel Jesus has the tools needed to help develop and build on the great work done by John, Kelly, Radd in recent times.”
Cordon has previously worked with Lewes Women as an assistant manager during their time in the Barclay’s Women’s Championship and guiding the side to their highest points total with 28 points.
Following his departure from Lewes in 2022, Jesus became assistant manager at Crawley Wasps in the FAWNL Southern Premier Division, during the same season Cordon moved to Chatham Town as an assistant manager with the hope of avoiding relegation. Chatham ended the 22/23 season in 7th place, achieving the goal of avoiding regulation. This wasn’t the only success Cordon had during this season, he went on to win the Kent Cup beating former Rebels opposition Millwall in the semi-final and Aylesford in the final.
After a successful end to the 22/23 season, Jesus was appointed interim manager of Chatham town before the start of the new 23/24 season. After the appointment of Keith Boanas as manager of Chatham Town Cordon moved to Sussex rivals Haywards Heath to bolster their management team he faced the Reds at the Sussex Transport Community Stadium where the Reds came out on top winning 3-1.
Cordon joins the Reds as manager for the 24/25 as the side matches up against new faces with the confirmation from the league that the team will play in the FAWNL Division One South West.
