There were very few positives to come out of today’s fixture. Hollingbury were bottom of the league and the team were full of confidence, perhaps too much so.
It was apparent soon after kick off that we were going to be in for a difficult afternoon. All over the park we were second best. We did however have a spell of possession in the first half and scored from a corner only for the ref to disallow the goal for an alleged high foot?!? This affected the team and we conceded soon afterwards.
I’m afraid the second half was a complete write off. Hollingbury scored with a nice free kick soon after half time, from that moment on we were chasing the game. We huffed and puffed for most of the second period and just as we seemed to be getting into a rhythm, some pretty average defending led to their third.
Tom McKeee popped up late on with a well-worked goal to make it 3-1.
