After last Saturday’s defeat at home to Maidstone United, the Rebels bounced back in midweek with a 1-0 win at home against Welling United. Muhammadu Faal netted his first league goal for Worthing to secure the points.

It was just the second time this season that the Rebels have kept a clean sheet as Chris Agutter found success from a change of shape. Jack Wadham came in for his first start since re-joining the club on loan and he played alongside Glen Rea in a new-look midfield, with Joe Cook returning to make up the back three with Alfie Young and Ollie Black. The result saw Worthing climb to 10th place in the league table and just five points off top spot having played ten games so far.

In the Emirates FA Cup, wins against Havant & Waterlooville and Dartford have helped Worthing get to this stage. They again face step three opposition in the Fourth Qualifying Round as they look to make it to the First Round of the competition in back-to-back seasons.

Team News

Sam Beard missed Tuesday night’s clash against Welling with an ankle injury that he sustained in last weekend’s defeat against Maidstone United. He remains a doubt ahead of this weekend’s trip to Plymouth.

Cameron Tutt is getting closer to returning as he recovers from a broken foot sustained in pre-season, but he remains a few weeks away.

View from the Camp – Chris Agutter

“We’re feeling good. It’s obviously been a decent couple of days off the back of Tuesday’s win.

“We’ve watched a few of their games and we know that they’ve got to this round of the FA Cup for a reason. We’ll plan accordingly and treat this game the same as any other”.

“Happy with the intensity we played with on Tuesday” – Agutter

The Opposition

In terms of league form, Parkway have struggled so far this term. They are without a win in their first nine league games this season and have picked up just three points.

However, their cup form has been a different story. In the Emirates FA Cup, they have beaten Baffins Milton Rovers, Westbury United and Sittingbourne while they have also beaten Banbury United in their first match in the Isuzu FA Trophy.

This is already a record FA Cup run for Parkway who will make their first appearance in the Fourth Qualifying Round of the competition tomorrow afternoon.
