We first played Weston-super-Mare on 20th December 1986, in an FA Trophy 1st round fixture. At this time, Weston were a Western League side and we were in the Isthmian League Premier Division and our higher status was reflected in the result, Worthing winning 5-0 with goals from Tony Vessey, Trevor Dove, Micky Edmonds, Kevin Foreman and Danny Deans.
Ten years later we again met in the FA Trophy, but this time we were at the same level, albeit they were in the Southern League and we were in the Isthmian; Weston won 2-0. This, and the previous encounter, were both played at their previous ground, Woodspring Park, which was along the road from their current ground, Woodspring Stadium.
Last season we played each other in National League South for the first time. The away match, which was the first we played at their current ground, finished 4-0 to the home side. We then won the home fixture, which was the last league match of the season, 4-2.
The first league fixture of this season, on 10th August, saw us play Weston again and, in an extraordinary match in Somerset, we turned around a 3-0 half-time deficit to win 4-3; two goals from Jack Spong and two from Danny Cashman, including the winner from a penalty in added-time, secured the three points.
