Chris Agutter’s side picked up 13 points from a possible 15 in January and beat two of their title rivals along the way in Maidstone United and Boreham Wood. The Rebels ended the month as the league leaders following that victory at home against Boreham Wood.

It was the second month in a row that the Rebels had gone unbeaten in the National League South, having continued their good run of form into the new year.

January started with a goalless draw against Sussex rivals Eastbourne Borough on New Year’s Day, but three days later, the Rebels had no trouble finding the back of the net, as they hammered five past Torquay United in the Isuzu FA Trophy.

Their next league match came a fortnight later when they were victorious at home against Weymouth, thanks to a single Temi Babalola goal. Midweek drama followed in the form of a 3-2 win away with Chippenham Town, with a 96th-minute winner earning Agutter’s side the points.

Then, the Rebels closed out the month with a double-header against Maidstone United and Boreham Wood, with two 2-1 wins sending them top of the pile at the end of the month.
